Making Butter
Last week, our class made some butter as part of our Farm unit this month.
We first poured some cream into baby food jars. Then we passed the jars around our sitting circle and took turns shaking the jars.
After approximately 10 minutes, the cream had separated into two parts - butter, and a watery, milky coloured liquid. We drained off the watery liquid and we were left with the butter we had made! We added some salt for taste and then spread our butter on some crackers. It was delicious!!

A closer look at our butterflies
These are some of our Painted Lady Butterflies before we released them outside. The cotton balls in the background are soaked with Gatorade and the butterflies loved drinking from them.

One of our butterflies has hatched!
This morning one of our butterflies hatched! The children were so excited and they kept checking the aquarium throughout the day to see how the butterfly was doing. They saw it open it's wings for the first time and dry them off as well as take it's first sips of sugar water from the juice-soaked cotton balls.
