Math
We have completed our number unit
and the students have taken their number duotangs home. Please review these numbers with your
child. You may also want to practice
counting at home with your child. There
are lots of fun counting games you can play together. Here are some ideas:
-
Hopscotch – Hopscotch is great for muscle
control and coordination. You can add a
step where you say the number your rock lands on. Another option is to choose
the number you're going to try and land on.
-
“Go Fish” or another
card game
-
Memory - You can make your own cards for this
game. Memory is great for practicing any
number of concepts including colors, words, patterns, etc.
-
Board Games – simple
board games like snakes and ladders are good counting practice when you say the
numbers out loud. They are also great
for teaching how to take turns.
This month we are beginning to learn about
sorting and we will also be continuing our unit on patterning.
