Our restaurant
In Kindergarten we do a lot of learning through play. We are currently learning about our community and about the places in people in our community. As a result we decided to change our house centre into a restaurant so that we can have opportunities to dramatize what it's like to run a restaurant. The children came up with the name for our restaurant as well as a menu.

We can make letters
We can use our imaginations to turn every day objects into letters. Look what we did at the block centre!
The Mitten
This week we read about the story "The Mitten". It's about a boy's mitten that gets lost in the woods and some animals find it and end up making a cozy home inside the mitten. We had opportunities to dramatize the play in several different ways inside the classroom and we have constructed our own paper mittens so that we can dramatize the play at home with our families as well!
Rhyming!
We have been practicing our rhyming skills a lot this term. Rhyming is an important part of phonemic awareness (the ability to hear and manipulate sounds in spoken words). Yesterday we decided to see how many words/non-sense words we could brainstorm that rhymed with the word "bat". Each time we brainstormed a new word we added a wooden block to make a tall tower. How high did we end up making our tower? 11 blocks high!!
