Literacy Centres

Literacy centres are a fun way for the students to practice phonemic awareness.  We practice listening to the beginning and ending sounds of words, clap the number of syllables in a word, play rhyming games, etc.

How big are our hearts?

We are beginning our unit on length.  For this activity the students had to measure how wide their hearts were using snap cubes as a unit of measurement.  

Fun on Valentine's Day

The children had so much fun decorating their Valentine mailboxes. The week leading up to Valentine's Day many children made valentines for each other to put into their mailboxes.  We also made some valentine heart cards to show our parents how much we love them.
