Our Teddy Bear Picnic

Today we celebrated the end of our bear unit with a Teddy Bear Picnic.  We ate porridge (just like the 3 bears made in the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears) as well two other foods bears love to eat - berries and fish (berry gummies and goldfish crackers).  We had so much fun!!

Artist of the Month

Every month we are focusing on one artist's work.  This month we have learned about the art of Ted Harrison and created our own versions using his art as inspiration.

Literacy Centers

Several times a week the students participate in literacy centres.  This is an opportunity for students to participate in various activities and games to strengthen their phonemic awareness (hearing the sounds within words).

Patterning

We have been learning lots about patterning.  Today we practiced patterning using snap cubes, beads, pattern blocks and links.

Reading Bookworm

Our class bookworm is growing rapidly.  Keep up the great reading everyone!!

Fall Leaf Walk

We went on a little walk in the school yard to examine some of the signs of fall - the changing leaves.  We brought back some to our classroom and made some leaf rubbings!

Oviparous Animals

This week we began learning about oviparous animals (animals that hatch from eggs).  We read an interesting story called "Chickens Aren't the Only Ones".  We then did a picture sort and determined which animals were oviparous and which were mammals.
