Dinosaurs

We began learning about dinosaurs this week.  For one of our activities, we learned how large a Tyrannosaurus' footprint was!  We learned that it was 100 cm long!!  The students then guessed how many of their feet would fit inside one T-Rex foot.  In order to find out, the students took off their shoes and counted how many shoes would fit inside a tracing of T-Rex's foot.  Guess what?  Everyone's shoes in our class fit inside one T-Rex foot!  That's a lot of shoes!!

Our class restaurant

This week we changed the house centre in our classroom into a restaurant!  The students had the opportunity to pick a name for our new restaurant and they choose the name "The Yummiest Restaurant".  They have been so excited about playing at this centre.  The students were involved in creating a menu for their restaurant and they love playing the parts of the chef, waiter/waitress, and customers.

Chart Paper Stories

Once a week, our class creates a story on a large piece of chart paper.  The students first brainstorm what they would like their story to be about and then they get to work on writing their ideas down.  The students are learning to sound out letters they hear in words - this is called inventive spelling or "kindergarten writing".
